uplifting

suddenly our gabion wall seems small compared to Heidi's project!

we suggested she fill the gap with Stuff. it'll be awful drafty if she doesn't!

Tuesday, November 24, 2009

and that's that!

almost 2 weeks late and not quite the full picture, but here's the gabion wall in almost it's entirety! we officially finished a week ago Sunday; or as we like to say in the South "last Wednesday week". that's letter conservation for you! congrats to nacho!

swamped

my god i've been so busy with absolutely nothing lately that i haven't posted anything. and a co-worker is having and issue with this. let's see...
* we've been working furiously on the gabion wall for the last 3+ weeks and finally put the last one in place yesterday in the rain. i have more photos but just haven't got around to posting them. once again i'm reaffirmed what a great team nacho and i are.
* nacho started hockey so i'm shuttling the little one to games now. luckily it's just B League this year so my back is happy about that. sorry ski-feet!
* we got the beach back end of last week. this would be he passing our our annual Fall flood. luckily it only made it up to the sea wall and no threat to the gabion work
* monsters are still spoiled. some things never change. although i think i've found a biking partner in Butterz!
* works SUCKS! i hate my job more and more each day and am beginning to embrace PMS - Potential Murder Suspect. i promise not to post pics of that!
* oh, yeah, and then there's that phone that's been eating up some of my time. i finally joined the 18th century. i miss my abacus!

Droidification

go big or go home. i finally got off the Razor - well kinda. picked up my Droid today and boy is this amazing! still keeping the Razor and USCellular for the next couple of weeks until i get the kinks worked on this. but i must say the Turn By Turn Navigation is awesome. the Twitter app is fine consider what Twitter is to begin with. i had some issues with Contacts and the Screen Timeout but muddled my way around and got those fixed - the VW store appreciated me calling back to tell them how to fix those! if i can just learn to type on a keyboard i'll be home free. amazing enough, i'm doing better on the touch screen than the slider keyboard. go figure!

in the trenches

well, i don't have a photo due to the time of day that we started this little project, but i'll try and post something this week. as luck would have it (what is it about Nacho and his luck), i had to come home early yesterday cuz Cookie had a vet appointment. when i got home, i noticed Ray next door and a guy operating a tractor on Ray's beach (i have no idea what type. just the one with the big digging thingy on the front) . talking to Ray later, it seems he's digging new footings for his new sea wall - i'll have to get a picture of that at some point too cuz it's gonna be cool. we're talking about his sea wall and i mention the gabion wall that we're hoping to start digging for in a couple weekends. i mentioned we were probably going to start that by, oh joy, hand digging (i am the most awesome wife btw). then it occurred to me to ask Ray if he rented that digging thingy and where cuz maybe i could get Nacho to rent it. remember me mentioning luck? well, Ray said as long as Nacho put it back where it was parked, he was welcome to use it last night to start digging the trench for our gabion wall. since he rented it for the day, might as well get as much use out of it as possible. Nacho actually sounded excited when i called him - i'd expect nothing less of a man. so we were out there 'til about 9p digging away. i still had to do some hand digging in spots but this thing was a life saver! photo to be posted later tonight!

we knew it was going to go horribly wrong, when these people showed up

there were lots of ribs

seasoned vets who hit the grill early

WAY TOO MUCH bag game ('til 1:00am)

none of this (see bag game)

and plenty of man love (picture cropped to protect the innocent)

and money lost (fyi Norm cheats)

but a good time was had by all! Moser and Norm will just have to agree since i'm sure they remember very little of it.

thanks again to the P's for hosting, cooking, and generally tolerating! see you next year!?

happy 8.11.0

i'm very good at making light of my marriage. but make no mistake about it, i take it very seriously. i have good friends who would attest to that. but i know not to take it TOO seriously. i know what deserves attention and what is simply not worth my time. i don't sweat the small stuff in relationships anymore.
someone used the word lucky today in a description of me. i've heard that more than once. "you're lucky you're thin", "you're lucky you went to collage", "you're lucky to have ". i don't buy that for a second. i'm HUGE about conscious choices. i'm where i am by virtue of some very hard decisions i had to make over time. it would have been easy to blame my failures on my parents divorce and wallow in that aftermath. it would have been easy to go where my daddy wanted and let him put me through college. it would have been easy to stay in that small town. it would have been easy stay with someone i loved very much but was limited in what i could give. but i have always said, "i know when something is the right thing to do, cuz it ain't easy!" and no one made those decisions, but me. and when i made bad decisions, those were mine to make, and no one elses. i own my own shit!
before i met nacho, i ended a very significant relationship. one that everyone around me questioned for doing. one that seemed perfect. but one that i knew was going nowhere. he believed in marriage and i did not. and i walked away from that (actually asked him to leave) and i was a wreck for what seemed like forever. but i knew, in the end, i'd made the right choice. i said to a friend, "i didn't put myself through all this crap for nothing. something amazing is going to happen to me this summer!" ask Dave and he'll tell you those were my EXACT words. and i was right. i met nacho that following summer. and when i did, i knew. i knew....he was the reason i'd moved to a college my daddy didn't support and refused to pay for to test me (i won). he was the reason i'd moved 800+ miles away from ANYONE and EVERYTHING i knew. and he was the reason i'd left that person that i'd loved so much. he's the reason i made those conscious, hard choices and stuck by them. and even though timing was not perfect when we met, he was the reason i waited. he was that amazing thing that was supposed to happen to me. and he did. and he's the reason i stayed.

i chose wisely!

and i said it wouldn't last

hard to believe that 8 years ago today, nacho and i stood before friends (current and former) and family (current and former) and pledged our psuedo-eternal love for one another. if it weren't for the photos, i'd never believe it myself! Happy Anniversary Pookums!

hand me down

that's my old man and favorite little man! happy late birthday again Bryce! i love you 2!

a'feared

let me just start by saying, even typing this one gives me the willies.
a couple weeks ago, i had to go home for a family funeral. i always stay with my sister Renee when i go home. one of her friends had asked me to take some pictures of some stuff at her house. Renee didn't bother to tell me what i was taking pictures of, just that "Sheila's got something she wants you to shoot." okay, in hindsight, had i known, i would have brought a gun instead of a camera. cuz this is what she wanted me to "shoot".

what my sister didn't realize, is that 2nd only to flying, these things creep me out. it's the number of legs. oh, this is a Banana Spider by the way. seriously, i'm having a hard time even typing this. you can't get a real feel for how big this thing is, but to help you.... hold your hand out in front of your face (arm's length). okay, your hand is about how big this was and the distance between your face and your hand is about how close i had to get to get this photo. did i mention, this one, and about 100+ more just like it were hanging all over the place in and around Sheila's house and barn on the Chipola River back home. i freakin grew up there, but never knew "shit, these things are all over the place around here!" thanks Renee. i took lots of pictures but many were too blurry because i couldn't COULDN'T STOP FREAKIN' SHAKIN'. i couldn't even remain still enough for my IS lens to balance it out - something tells me they don't test phobias out on lenses in the lab. at one point, i had to stand in the middle of the barn cuz Renee thought "it'd be cool to get a picture of 'em all hangin' there!" yeah, that was cool. that photo didnt' turn out. and pardon me for not holding my hand up next to one to give you perspective on size. just trust me on that one. i don't care if "hell, they ain't gone bite you" (again, thanks sis). so you will just have to excuse me for (1) taking so long to post this CUZ I'M STILL SUFFERING FROM PTSD and (2) I'M STILL SUFFERING FROM PTSD!!!

Finis!

we never thought we'd see this day, but it finally came. THE DECK IS FINISHED....well, techinically speaking.

okay, this is some important part of the process. it has something to do with crimping. i paid so much attention when nacho was explaining it that i got too excited and now can't remember all of it. but it's important i'm sure.

and this is another important thing that i can't explain. but it has something to do with ferrels and turn buckles and bears, oh my!

put them all together and you have this....

and after 3 years of putting them together, you have this....

and that's a little thing we like to call FINISHED! that's right Moser....F I N I S H E D!!!

email courier

An individual who approaches someone's desk or workstation in a work environment almost immediately after sending them an email, usually to confirm that the email has been received.

Bill: I just sent you an email. Did you get it?
Mike: Probably, I haven't checked.
Bill: Can you check?
Mike: Uh yeah, looks like I got it.
Bill: Thoughts?
Mike: My immediate thoughts are you're an email courier and a douchebag.

escape from nachotraz

as i said earlier, we've been busy with all kinds of summer goodness. guess that's what happens when you flood 5 FREAKIN TIMES IN ONE YEAR!!! you have to make up for lost time fast! so this was back at the end of June. another nacho moment...the P's have a place in Florida and one of the neighbors was moving so they needed to get rid of some sailboarding equipment they had. do you think you're son would want it? sure! why not! and that's how it came to be.
TJ was kind enough take time out of his precisous schedule when he did finally visit us, and hang out with nacho for he afternoon and teach him how to work this thing. sadly, that's the only time he's had it out so far. but there will be more and of course i'll be there to not take pictures and not post anything about it! hooray me!

deck update....seriously!

okay, so it's been SOOO long since i (1) took any pictures of the deck and (2) posted anything about it, that it's probably safe to assume it's done and we've moved on to some other project. WRONG! no sir, nothing ever goes fast around here! it's season three of the Infinity Deck (because it just goes on and on). i don't think i took any pictures of the deck last summer and a lot has happened since then. true to form, i changed my mind about something and we now have a new section added to the deck...cuz ya know, we needed more room. and, of course, i forgot to take a picture of it today before it got dark so the Extension will have to wait until tomorrow. but since i promised Korby i'd post something, here goes.
some of you may remember the time we used interior molding for railing. let's see that was the winter 2007. the year we started all this. the 2nd winter saw string (i'm not kidding) string as the railing. yeah, JT, that really was string. and now, in summer3, we are well on our way to an actual, real life, something close to a dictionary definition, railing! nacho has been working his but off the last 3+ weeks and here's what he has to show for it:

First up: You have to train your top rail!

You can't just set the boards up there for cryin' out loud. so you lay them across the posts (stainless steel works best!) and you let them sit out in the sun so they sag. this creates a "memory". then when you turn them over and they bow up, you attach the support bar to them and it forces the to straighten out. but won't they just sag again? nope! the "memory" and the support bar keep that from happening. fyi, this was an actual conversation. oh, and i want to be sure to mention that nacho drilled out all the holes for the posts without a single mess up! good nachos!

Next Up: this rule does not apply to the stair railing

there was no training going on here. just straight up support bar underneath and attaching them to the posts. all the railings attach to the post by this cool little sleeve (that i also didn't take a picture of). it's a smaller diameter piece of post, with a square peice welded on top. it fits in the post and the railing screws into the square plate. done!

Finally: yes, this is actual stainless cable

but no, it's not permanently in place. not to get ahead of himself, nacho strung a few sections just to see how it would look. and it's going to look awesome. he's encountering some engineering issues though...so Korby & Moser, please call him and make him talk to you about this so we can pick another brain. the simple fix would be to buy the $25.00 turn buckles that already do whatever it is that needs to be done. but we need 50 or so of those and, well, that ain't gonna happen.

there are plenty more pictures. i just have to find them (ahem, take them) and post them. i swear there is an Extension and i will show it considering the pain in the butt it was to add. but it has made for the most awesome hammock hangout. Arnie is planning her deck with a hammock cave too!

and i cannot say enough about how impressive this has all been in that nacho has done so much with the help of friends, but also so much totally on his own. it has really given me a huge appreciation for his patience and persisitence. i would have hired this out a long time ago and probably not gotten something i like as much as i know i'm going to like this!

to blog or.....something else

finally, an explanation for why i'd rather blog than twitter. and i'm not a serious blogger like a lot of people - as evidenced by the fact that i still use blogspot and am too lazy to take on my own content. but i hung on to twitter for over a year, at one time deleting my account then recreating it. abandoning it, then coming back. and finally, like so much of college, recognizing it for what it was, just experimenting.

"A blog lets you define yourself, whereas on a social network you are more likely to be defined by others. Sure, blog readers can write comments — but the blogger can delete the comments, or disemvowel them, or turn them off entirely. Sure, a blog is dependent on the links you point outward and those that others point in; but it has its own independent existence in a way that no amount of messaging and chat and interaction on a social networking site can match. A blog is not necessarily better than a Facebook profile, nor is it worse; it is, simply, different."

too much going on

it isn't for lack of want that i can't seem to post anything. there's just simply too much going on. since sailboarding, there's been birthday goodness, deck going's on, Ride The Wake madness, too much john boating, not enough wakeboarding, wet bike goodness, boxer swim lessons and general monsters antics, kiteboarding, and drama drama drama. i promise to sit down one night this week and catch it all up. like you care intertubes!

DO NOT MESS WITH ME BEETLE!

ate the first cucumber of the season off my own vine. this is a HUGE deal for me cuz i've tried for 3 or 4 years to grow my own cucumber bush and with no success. i get the dreaded cucumber beetle every year and if you read anything about them, they are horrible. so i've been going out to the vine every day and picking them off one by one and SMASHING THEM UNDER A ROCK!!! and today it paid off! it was delicious. i could have taken a picture had i not inhaled it so quickly! maybe next time.

high times

this is what my co-workers do for fun when they're not at work.

of course this all started with a video from some other geeks that had done the same. since Brian can't be out geeked he set out to create his own. this was flight #2. flight #1 was probably just as good, but we'll never know since no one bothered to turn the camera on before they released the balloon. fyi - the balloon for this flight was released in Washington, IL and picked up somewhere off 155. you can read more about the whole thing here.
so what do you do with your free time?

our flux capacitor

that's the problem with summer. longer days, but less time to sit at the computer. back some time ago (between the March and May floods), nacho wired in for the generator we got for Christmas. unfortunately, we never lost electricity during the floods. boo hoo for nacho. but he finally got his wish 2 weeks ago. the awesome storm that produced this

also left us without power for about an hour (nacho says 20 minutes but i think an hour lends more drama to the story). and much to his glee, he got to hook up the generator and we were in business and "off the grid"!

Family Reunion

we had a visit a few weeks ago by momma duck and family. it made me feel so much better to know that they'd made it out of the field and into the river, where they should be. thanks to nacho for catching the pics!

not anymore

oh and one more......
any comment about how hot it is. really? hot? in June/July? imagine that. well, back home that's a little thing we like to call SUMMER PEOPLE!!! and later on when it gets "really cold", SURPRISE! we'll call that WINTER! seriously!

==========

i've been witness to and part of some diverse perspectives on several personal and political issues the last couple of weeks. here are my top 3:

said to me: "well, since you got religion". oh really? and when did i get said religion? and (1) what are you talking about and (2) what business would it be of yours anyway? if you think i've all of a sudden gotten religion and you feel threatened by that, i say, go with that feeling. cuz whether or not i've gotten religion, you should feel threatened by me. so let's talk about you and your choices!

said in a meeting: "anyone who's too lazy to work deserves to die". wow! i simply don't know what to say to that! last time i checked, one of the fundamental differences that sets us apart from so-called lower forms of life was a little thing called compassion! if you need help looking that up, let me know.

said to a friend: "you're not the same person" (or something like). you damn right he's not. let's sit back and enjoy the show shall we? popcorn anyone!?

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

nothing to say

okay, it's not that hard if you try

so this has been quite the education and i've been pleasantly surprised by the cooperation of multiple people i've talked to today. and now i have a better idea where to go for what i need. as i said, Anita from IVY Club was super helpful and verified my thought that boat clubs take an active interest in educating their members. and i just spoke to Jerilyn (sp?) at East Port Marina who echoed the same thoughts. she added, as you'd expect, that there's really nothing they can do to stop someone from going out. and we wouldn't expect they could. she also clued me in to the DNR site for the official press release that gives just a little more info - like the fine(s) for violating this. so check the newest release out!

but i was really surprised when i spoke with Petty Officer Shuey (sp?) with the Coast Guard Sector Office in St. Louis. he reiterated what i'd already learned and stressed how serious they take it. guess there was someone this week that went out and got their cruiser stuck in the middle of the river.....THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER....and they are laying into that one. and as the press release states, the fines range from $32,500 to $250,000 for violating the closure. WOW! oh, and the number to report that to is 314-269-2332 for those interested. St. Louis works with the local DNR and as Shuey put it, they will be out in full force this weekend and working with local law enforcement. i'm running our of WOW's!

one last note: as Jerilyn told me, remember this is ALL recreational traffic. KAYAKS INCLUDED!!! so does that mean i can't leave for work when we're flooded? can't take TheMonsters for "bi-ness"? well, it does mean we can't check out the islands during a flood and the premise being, not the wake, but safety. i can live with that!

they don't make it easy to find

in the spirit of curiosity, and as a follow-up to multiple conversations this week, i spent over 3 hours just to find this little blurb:

B. ZONE 7 (MM 145.6-180.9 ILR) IS IN THE RECOVERY PHASE FOR HIGH WATER CONDITIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ILR WAP ANNEX. ALL TOWING VESSELS ARE PROHIBITED FROM PUSHING INTO OR LAYING UP ON LEVEES AND ARE REQUESTED TO TRANSIT THIS ZONE WITH CAUTION AND AT THE SLOWEST SAFE SPEED TO MINIMIZE WAKE DAMAGE ESPECIALLY PEORIA (MM 165.5 - 178.0 ILR). ALL RECREATIONAL VESSEL TRAFFIC IS PROHIBITED FROM TRANSITING IN THIS ZONE.

btw, the day marker South of us is 179.0.

so where did this all come from? well, every time we flood, and there is a river closing, there's still those few boaters that insist on going out. so several of us have wondered this week, how that information gets out. i must say, for someone not versed in terminology, agencies, etc., i didn't find locating this info easy at all. i had ideas of where to start only because of nacho. but without that head start, i don't know that i would have had the patience to find it by myself - course that's my issue isn't it? and it is not safe to assume that just cuz you own a boat, you know boating - didn't the Hardin boys teach us anything?

so then i got to thinking, why don't they handle this like the beaches back home? you go to the beach and you know it's dangerous surf, and in some cases prohibited to go in the water, based on the flags displayed. well, actually, they do distribute the info. as Anita from IVY Club was so kind to discuss with me. she said that someone from the Coast Guard came and gave them a press release - most likely the full release that i pulled the above info from. she also said to keep their members informed, they make copies of the release and post it in various places at their club (bar, door ways, etc.) and spread it word of mouth. i asked if she finds most members heed the restrictions and she said "yes". of course i guess i could have asked her if they do anything to stop people from leaving port, but i didn't think of that and i guess you can't really stop someone from boating on a closed river. i do have a similar call into East Port Marina so i'll be interested to see what they have to say. and it's got me thinking about posting notices at our club. i like to think all our members are pretty versed, but you never know! of course, when the river's closed, the club is so flooded you couldn't get a boat in anyway, but it's not really fair to expect something from other clubs that we don't hold up ourselves. that's called a double standard people!

probably the biggest point is as someone living on the river, i've bought into a certain lifestyle and culture - ignorant or informed. and i've finally accepted that it's not really the fault of boaters for creating a wake when my place is flooded. blame the Coast Guard for not shutting down the river in some instances. but that's just your opinion an not necessarily reason enough to shut down the river. and, as nacho reminded me, a No Wake Zone is only150 feet from the signage (although i have yet to find the definitive word on that distance but i'll keep looking for that one). while the ultimate argument seems to be that most people lack common sense and courtesy, there's no test or sign for that. and after boating for about 10 years with nacho, i am starting to support the notion that you should have to take an exam and get a license to operate a boat. but as the Journal Star pointed out the other day:
  • While the state requires education courses for persons 12 to 17 years of age, statistics show the majority of accidents actually involve older boaters who are not required to take any safety classes.
although this really has nothing to do with the annoyance of wakes created when we're flooded, it does make me wonder if it would raise more awareness for courtesy on the river in general. but, as i said before, i live on the river so i bought into a culture. it's like buying a house next to the interstate and then complaining about the traffic noise. that doesn't really make sense. once again, Little Buddha taught me ....."and you know this"

all downhill from here?

looks like Henry has crested and they removed the "predicted" from Peoria. so i'm hoping this means we've crested and we watch it go down from here. please no rain and no more wind!

this is how it all starts

people are always asking us what it looks like when we first start to flood. well, here's what it looks like. this is the "berm" i'm always referring to. i also call it the "transition area" cuz it's where the yard transitions to the beach. except these days there is no transition CUZ IT'S ALL FREAKIN' RIVER!!!
it starts with a little trickle in a couple places. and then it becomes this...

beyond that, it's all just water!

oh, and a post script....i now have a folder titled Flood09 for my pics. and in that i have 3 folders: Jan09, March09, May09. any bets that's the last sub-folder i create in there? a wise man once said to me "And you know this!"

Penthouse Suite

seems more people are interested in what's happened with momma duck than anything. we're guessing she's in the final stretch cuz she hardly leaves the nest. that was a problem Sat as we started flooding. finally at 530am yesterday, thanks to Butters clockwork morning pee, we were able to get to her nest while she was out stretching whatever it is that ducks stretch when they tire of sitting on their nest. so nacho and i used the remaining mulch that was destined for the flood, one of my terra cotta pots, and some concrete fill and physically raised her nest up. she took to it without hesitation. of course she did make some modifications of her own. so fingers crossed all 11+ eggs will be just fine. let's all hope we get to see it this year cuz we think she's due any day now!

you've seen one flood.....

yeah, again! i've given up on posting pics of the floods cuz really, when you've seen one this year, the 5th one is really just the same pic over and over again. we spent pretty much all weekend prepping. but, we're getting really good at this! i got home Friday after work and pretty much had all my stuff taken care of that night. even Nacho's stuff didn't take that long to put away. the good news is, this is not as bad as March - of which i took no pics either cuz, really... as of this posting, it's up to the concrete patio and only coming over because of the south wind we have today. they're calling for more of the same tomorrow and then, supposedly, sunny skies the rest of the week! hooray! so if you have a canoe, kayak, paddle boat, or john boat, feel free to come visit this weekend! it's likely i'll be making Floody Mary's!

RibFest 2009

Sept 12th is the official date. so look for the Evite from Nacho!

will this never end????

to answer the unending question lately, yes, the river is coming back up. i realize that all that mulch i laid last week might be a bit premature, but i'm hoping for the best. they are currently predicting 21.6 or something. and i like to think that this little lady knows best and wouldn't have made her home if we weren't safe! at least this will be a test for the new Gabion that i built Sunday to hopefully protect my garden in the future. it worked for the beach!

she is so back!

was able to snap a couple photos of our mom to be this weekend. she has since covered up the hole she dug out so we don't know if there are eggs or not, but we're gonna leave her alone as much as possible. when/if there's something to snap, we'll do and post it! hooray and welcome back girl!

i am running out of reasons

like the majority of county voters, nacho and i voted against the recent tax hike to fund the Riverfront Museum. there are plenty of other great blogs for and against this, and since the tax increase did pass, i won't waste my time and yours explaining my reasons. upon the initial election results, nacho was, to say the least, pissed. maybe it's a 40 thing, but i just looked at the results on the idiot box, said "well, that's settled. i'm going to bed." and did so. nacho is more intent on spend as much of his purchasing dollars outside of Peoria County.

i do a fair amount across the river as it is, but now i have 1 more reason not to shop in Peoria county. i finally discovered they have a PetSmart. some time ago i gave up Kohl's, Lowe's and Schlotzsky's in Peoria. okay, sometimes nacho and i will hit the Schlotzsky's on North Knoxville. but today i had to go out on my lunch to get food for The Monsters. out of shear habit, i started out for the PS in Peoria, then remembered there's one in East Peoria. it's not a tax issue, mind you, it's just actually closer and less of a traffic nightmare than traipsing all the way across town. now if East Peoria ever gets a Target and a LaBamba, that will be the icing on the cake!

welcome back!

to the untrained eye, this is nothing more than a pile of mulch. to us, it's the start of something pretty awesome!

Suggestion Box

so nacho and i took the new girl out for a spin Sat. sadly, no pics. why do i even own a camera. it was all very impromptu. since our beach is still completely under water, launching it was easy. we just used the 4 wheeler and backed it over the berm (what's left of that). easy peasy. on her maiden voyage, we scored 2 buouys. a red Nun and green Can. seriously, that's what they are called. and no we're not keeping them. so it was a successful maiden voyage to say the least.

however, it did remind me that we don't have a name for her. i wanted Tipsy, but Todd has that taken for the Hobie. so i'm interested in any names that anyone can give me for the girl. winner gets a hardy handshake and a pat on the back!

our beach - or something like that

okay, these were taken March 24th, when we still had water surrounding the house.
North beach (between us and Kim's)

South beach (no, not Miami! between us & Ray, aka Fiero house)

i believe by this level we could walk in with our hip waders, but still couldn't drive in. the only thing difference now is there is no water on the "land" side of things, the water on the beach is only down about 2 feet and we burned most of the debris on the North this past weekend. oh, and that big white metal thing is some old fuel tank. most likely off a farmer's field. Kate just had to have it for her dad. and wouldn't you know it, he just loved it. sick sick people!

we still have tons in front of the house on the beach, and on the South beach. there's easily 5 Trees...full trees people, not some small trunk...sitting on the South end. this cleanup is and will be hell for a while. i'll try to get some shots of what remains of my yard, if you can call it that. it's pretty much gone, and i mean GONE! as in, didn't you guys have a yard at one time?
